The number of children and adolescents in the U.S. who experience a stroke increases. Usually preceded by obesity, diabetes or high blood pressure. A trend which has emerged in Germany.

- An increase of 47 percent among men aged 35 to 44, ie from 36 to 52.9 cases.

Among children between five and 14 the number of strokes increased by 31 percent to 36 percent among boys and among girls. However, only the stroke of five and four of 10 000 hospital admissions was responsible.
For their study, researchers from the U.S. CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) in the period between 1995 and 2008 analyzes up to eight million patient records per year.
More strokes to be expected in Germany
